"Cool" (and Delicious) Inventions

While at my past firm, I prosecuted patents for a couple locally based companies where I could eat the inventions while researching the technology. Talk about a fun job! Dunkin' Donuts is one such company. MooBella (on-demand, customized, fresh-made ice-cream) is another.

You may not yet have heard of MooBella, though I expect you will. The machines (and ice cream) were a big hit when they beta-tested them here at the Cambridge Innovation Center last year.

The Boston Globe recently picked up the story, with the announcement that about a hundred MooBella machines will be rolled out in the Boston-area in the next few months. Without discussing the technology, I urge you to engineer your own dish of MooBella ice cream by programming your selections into the machine. The on-demand ice cream is outstanding, and the process is fascinating to watch.  Look for one of these machines in a high public-traffic area toward the end of the year.
